The Princess Club Corp Star Grass Hay

This past week, I had a huge problem: I was slowly (but surely) running out of pellets AND hay! Worse, my favorite supplier ran out of stock for both and the time for restocking is uncertain, so what’s a cavy slave to do? Research!

After much researching and asking around, I found The Princess Club Corp, a supplier that sells hay in bulk, imported from Australia and New Zealand.ย I immediately contacted them, asking if they still sold timothy hay. The reply was quick, and the seller told me that they only sell alfalfa and star grass hay, not timothy. I wasn’t very familiar with star grass hay though, so I had to look it up. It turns out that it is also a kind of grass hay, much like timothy and meadow hay, though not as popular. It is also vet-approved, so it is definitely suitable for piggies.

With The Princess Club Corp, you can get 10 kg of star grass hay for PHP800, which, in my opinion, is a good deal. The quality of their hay is very good. It’s green (though not as green as timothy hay) and very fragrant. It’s also not dusty and not too dry, and the long stalks are really smooth too, so you can be sure that your guinea pig will not be injured.

10 kilos of hay! What a treat!

But ultimately, the ones who will decide whether it’s a good purchase are Freya and Ellie themselves, so let’s check their reactions:

Hoomin? We have hay again?

I watched the girls as they tried the hay and they were munching on it for 15 minutes straight, so I’m glad to say that they really like it! Ellie, who usually consumes hay in smallย but frequent amounts, enjoyed this hay so much and didn’t leave it for a long time. I’ve had to refill their rack again after 15 minutes!

So for those who are having a difficult time finding good hay, I highly recommend The Princess Club Corp and their star grass hay. Their hay really gives a good value for your money. I hope your piggies enjoy it as much as mine did!

Hi! I’m trying to look for literature online about feeding star grass hay to guinea pigs, and I couldn’t find much… do you mind pointing me to the sites? I’d like to try it, pero scared that they might not be the best hay for the cavies eh. They’re sort of used to eating timothy hay, pero can be pretty expensive since imported pa yung binibili ko. thanks so much!

      Hello,

It is hard to find sites regarding star grass hay since guinea pig owners commonly feed timothy, orchard, and meadow grass to cavies. But I found a site that states that it is a type of grass hay in warmer parts of the US (http://www.fao.org/docrep/005/x7660e/x7660e09.htm) and is also being fed to rabbits. Timothy really has the higher nutritional content but I have talked to the vet and was told that since it’s still grass hay, it’s an acceptable alternative. My pets like eating it as well ๐Ÿ™‚

You can compare the nutritional values if you like ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for this review. I’ve contacted them just now and was quite hesitant because their shipping fee is quite pricey. Fifty pesos per kilo. @_@

This review has made me decide the outcome. Thank you.

      Hello!

As of now, I order my hay online from a store called Small Pet Select (based in the US) but I also order hay from Ilovemypets.ph, which is a Philippine-based online store ๐Ÿ™‚
